INTRODUCTION TO THE CONTEMPORARY CLAYS
This unique one day class is designed to showcase the versatility of the three Contemporary Clays used in the CCIP Certification program.
Air Dry Clay (Makin's Clay ®)
Polymer Clay (Sculpey – Premo!)
Metal Clay (PMC3 – Precious Metal Clay)
This class focuses heavily on techniques: - you will learn about preparing the different clays, the use of moulds, finishing your piece professionally, application of surface embellishments, construction and adhering your clay to other objects.
Three innovative projects will be covered allowing you to create components independently.
Precious Metal Clay - Using PMC3 with press moulds to create solid or hollow charms.
Air Dry Clay – Liquorice Allsorts beads or Embellishing with Makin’s
Polymer Clay – A cover for your own journal or sketch book.

- Small journal or sketch book with a cardboard cover approx 150 x 100mm
- Findings etc to complete the press mould charms
- Lunch (Tea and coffee provided)

PMC - Techniques for Future Use.
This is a comprehensive foundation class for working with PMC3. It covers all of the basics for using PMC3, aiming to teach you the skills required to continue on using this fascinating product on your own with confidence.
The 4 hour class is focused on techniques commonly used when working with PMC3.
Topics covered include:
* Basic terminology - clay related and jewellery related.
* Tool requirements - the must haves, the nice to have and the not-so-essentials
* Texturing techniques
* Cutter and template use
* Using moulds
* Free hand forming
* Torch firing
* Hand finishing - achieving a superior look
All tools for this initial class are supplied. There is a listing of the tools you use in the printed class notes that you will receive in your class for your future reference.
